Because it is protection for YOURSELF! So what exactly is uninsured motorist coverage?

Uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage will pay for injuries to you and your passengers, and also damage to your vehicle, when there is an accident and the other driver is both legally responsible for the accident and is “uninsured.”

An uninsured driver is someone who does not have any insurance, has insurance that does not meet state-mandated minimum liability requirements, or whose insurance company denied their claim or was not financially able to pay it. A hit-and-run driver also counts as uninsured if there is bodily injury.

An underinsured driver is someone who had insurance that met minimum legal requirements, but did not have payment limits high enough to pay for the damage caused by the accident. In these situations, uninsured motorist will pay you for your damages.

It’s usually relatively cheap to add this coverage to your car insurance, especially considering the amount of protection it offers. It could pay your medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering. If someone hits you or your car and is legally responsible for the damages, you won’t get any money from them if they don’t have money to give you. Especially during times when people are struggling economically, many drivers either do not have insurance or do not have enough insurance. If you have uninsured motorist coverage, you will be compensated for the damages done to you.

So make sure your auto policy has this coverage TODAY! We recommend having limits equal to your liability limits. $100,000/$300,000 is the limit we recommend to our clients. If you have assets to protect,or want to protect yourself against an uninsured motorist, we recommend at least $500,000.
