You may apply for health insurance outside of open enrollment if you have a qualifying event.
Qualifying life events include:
• Loss of group coverage through you or your spouse’s employer.
• Income changes that make you newly eligible or ineligible for a subsidy.
• Turning 26 years old and no longer eligible on your parent’s plan.
• Moving to a new region within California or from another state.
• Having a child.
• Getting married.
• Becoming a citizen.
There are other options that may qualify as a special enrollment.
